A Room Of One's Own
At last i have a "room of one's own"
In the greatest tradition of herself, my room is filled with visual treats, ripe to inspire me as i work.
Some simple some a little more deep, but all meaningful, and all symbolic to me and my work.
Dressers piled high with textiles, threads, buttons and beads.
Tables strewn with baskets housing the tools of my trade.
Shelves lined with the written word to help me on my way.

Early Days of Autumn
The summer is packed away for yet another year.
I am now welcoming the early days of autumn.
Layering the windows with differing lengths of fabric, gossamer voile's, sari brights and rich woollen plaids.
Plump velvet cushions, thick fleece rugs, mohair soft throws.
Flickering candles, early evening shadows, the anticipation of a crackling hearth.
Whilst my mind is full of much preparation for this a new season, i am thankful for the season past, for that of mother nature's bounty, now well stored.

A Work Room With a View
In my head it is 1860 something, i live in a formidable stone house built several centuries before. Situated on the edge of a great town, not too far in the distance is the sea, a constant inspiration.
Attached to the left wing of the house is a large metal structure, with a worn chequered floor, on which sit several creaking rattan chairs each filled with time worn faded floral cushions, terracotta pots filled with lipstick red geraniums sent the air.
This is to be my very own work, i know i will stitch some of my finest work from here...

Romany Caravan Collection
A pile of blackberry, mocha and old gold coloured textiles, sit on my work table waiting to be stitched together.
As i started to cut and place each piece i could feel a story unfolding, these were well travelled fabrics, a nomadic caravan collection was coming together, evoking thoughts of cooking on an open fire and sleeping under the stars, woven kilim rugs strewn upon the ground, mountains of cushions and pillows, and the flickering light from a pierced iron lantern...
